Following the approval of the Whiteley North Planning application in October 2015 by Winchester City Council everything has gone very quiet. Supposedly the application and therefore the works have been delayed because of the discovery of a main sewer pipe running through the site. This has delayed the project and has put the £14m funding from the Solent Enterprise Partnership for the new road onto Botley Rd in jeopardy as its unlikely the new road will be in place within the 3 years required for the funding to be granted. If the money is lost it is doubtful the new road(s) will be built before the houses. Here is an outline of the works expected. As ever things may change but at the moment no planning consent for North Whiteley exists.
